Alia Bhatt, going on and off with the confirmation of her playing the lead role in the film, is now finally being confirmed by the director of the film "Mohit Suri". Alia Bhatt will be playing the character of a singer. After singing in her last few films, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Udta Punjab and the latest one "Dear Zindagi", it won't be wrong to expect she will be singing her own songs. Speaking to a source, director Mohit Suri confirmed that Alia will be playing the role of a singer. Mohit said, "Since it is a part of Aashiqui franchise, Alia will be playing the role of a singer".

Filmmaker Mohit Suri is currently busy with the shoot of his upcoming film "Half Girlfriend", which stars Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The release date of Aashiqui 3 hasn't been decided yet. Director Mohit Suri is busy with making minor changes in Siddharth's character in the film. Alia made her debut in 2012, with Karan Johar's "Student of the Year" and now she is all set to do a film for her home-banner. Aashiqui 3 is being produced by Mahesh Bhatt, the story is being penned by Shaheen Bhatt, and is being directed by Mohit Suri with Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra in the lead roles.

The first installment of "Aashiqui" back in 1990 starred Rahul Roy & Anu Aggrawal, making their debut on the big screen. The second installment "Aashiqui 2", starred Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor while both were relatively unknown faces at that time. Now it is going to be the first time that very well known stars are roped in for the "Aashiqui" franchise.
