I want Shah Rukh Khan to play my role in the Hindi Remake of "Lion", says Saroo Brierley
The film "Lion" starred Dev Patel in the lead role and was based on Saroo Brierley's book "A Long Way Home". The film was highly acclaimed and received 6 Oscar Nominations at the 89th Academy Award.
In a recent interview, Saroo said "I'm okey if a bollywood film will be made on my life. It can be made into a sensational Bollywood masala film. If the film will be made, Shah Rukh Khan can play my character. Among the female lead Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone or Priety Zinta would be suitable for playing my love interest.
Saroo clarified that he hasn't got any offer from the bollywood about making a film on his life yet. "I'm a fan of Hindi films. I'm having a collection of around 300 Hindi films and "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" is one of my favorites, he added.
"Lion" was inspired from a true story of a young Indian boy, who gets seperated from his family when he ends up 1,000 miles away from his home, losts at a railway station in Kolkata. Later on he survives many challenges before an Australian family adopts him and after so many years on day he eventually tracks down his lost family in India via Google Navigation Systems.
I had no idea, that this film will be nominated for Oscars. I personally think, people found my journey amazing. Dev really worked very hard for five months to portray me in the film, Saroo said. "Lion" is directed by Garth Davis, who also directed Comets (2013) and P.I.N.S (2000). "Lion" is scheduled to release on 24th February. Last night, there was an Indian Premiere of the film arranged by Jio MAMI Film Club.
Saroo said, "There were about 30 production companies who approached me to make a film on my life, but I found this one "Lion". I chose them because they belonged to Australia and visited India to understand things in a better way.
