Salman Khan's Tubelight was one of the highly awaited and much anticipated films of the year. The film was released this Friday, though it garnered a lukewarm occupancy and didn't perform well at the box office. The film failed to live upto expectations, as a result it received mixed response from critics and audience. The film became the second highest opener of 2017 by collecting Rs. 21.15 cr, the first position still goes to Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion which collected Rs. 41 cr at the domestic box office on it's very first day. Tubelight collected Rs. 21.15 cr on Day 1 (Fri), Rs 21.17 cr on Day 2 (Sat) and Rs. 22.45 cr on Day 3 (Sun). The film managed to put up a total of Rs. 64.77 cr at the box office during the end of it's first weekend. Tubelight was released on 4350 screens across India but still the film failed to beat Raees on Day 2 with an even bigger screen space. Raees enjoyed a Holiday on day 2 (Republic day), but not to forget Raees had a competition from Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil during the same time, while Tubelight enjoyed a solo release and had a free run.

Tubelight became Salman Khan's lowest opener in recent times, on first day as well as during first weekend. The film collected much lower than Bodyguard (Rs 88.75 cr Wed - Sun), Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 100.16 cr Wed - Sun), Kick (Rs 83.83 cr Fri - Sun), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 102.60 cr Fri - Sun), Sultan (Rs 105.53 Wed - Sun). The film failed to break previous records of 'Sultan', 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. However, Tubelight maintained a solid momentum on Sunday and collected Rs 22.45 cr. The film faced a decent occupancy on Friday and Saturday, but even on Sunday the film didn't get a good occupancy and but collected more than Friday and Satuday. But on Monday (Eid Holiday), the film badly failed to get a occupancy across single screens and multiplexes. The film collected Rs. 19.09 cr on Monday and with a total of Rs. 83.86 cr the film is heading towards 100 cr club. But, the surprising fact is that, Tubelight hasn't crossed Rs. 30 cr on a single day till now. The film has underperformed on Eid. Generally, films of Salman Khan set new records on Eid, but this time it's an exception. Will it enter the 300 cr club? I doubt. Film critic and biz analyst gave the detailed collection report of the box office collection of Tubelight on Day 4 -
