The trailer of both the movies "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay" have got thumbs up from fans, celebrities and critics. The music of Karan Johar's film has been Chartbuster - a factor which is bound to ensure a good opening for the film , but the music of Ajay Devgn's film has been average and has dampened the buzz.
Karan Johar has directed Superhit films - "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham", "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna", "My Name is Khan" & "Student of the Year" , which is a plus point for Ranbir Kapoor's film. But Ajay Devgn's "Shivaay" is his second directorial after "U, Me Aur Hum" and it doesn't makes a plus point for Ajay Devgn's film.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay are releasing on same number of screens - Between 2800-3000. Shivaay is releasing in more single screen theatres whereas "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" has higher share of Multiplexes.
The budget of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is around 70Cr, with about 10-15Cr spent on promotions. Karan Johar's film has already collected 50Cr from the pre-release sale of rights, whereas the budget of Shivaay is around 105Cr with about 20Cr spent on promotions. Ajay Devgn's film has already collected 50Cr through sale of rights.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is already getting positive reviews from Bollywood celebrities. In a special screening of Karan Johar's film "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", after watching the film Kareena Kapoor Khan stated that, "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is Karan Johar's best film till date".
Also, Karan Johar's film has a slight edge in terms of advance booking. However, this slight edge is because the "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" has got higher share of Multiplexes whereas Ajay Devgn's film will release in more single screen theatres.
Karan Johar's film has been in news since it was announced, after the recent MNS protest the film has a slightly upper hand in terms of buzz.
Now everything has been resolved, we all expect fireworks at the Box Office this Diwali. Acc. to critics "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" will collect around 15-17Cr on Day 1 and "Shivaay" will collect around 10-12Cr on Day 1.
