EXCLUSIVE! Latest update of Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 !

Yesterday, Superstar Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, director Shankar, and music composer AR Rahman amid huge fanfare launched the first look of the film, 2.0 at YRF Studios, Mumbai.

As Akshay Kumar is playing as the antagonist in 2.0, his evil look was the talking point of the show. Few minutes before the launch he shared his never seen evil avatar from 2.0 on Facebook and Twitter. Akshay Kumar, who is going to debut with 2.0 into the Tamil industry, shed his good looks to become an evil, who will be Rajinikanth's biggest nemesis.

When asked about his character in the film, Akshay said,"I have never put on make-up in 25 years of my career. But in this film I have done all the makeup of 25 years. It took me two to three hours to put it on & one to one and a half hour to remove it. I am a very patient person but now my patience level has increased". Akshay will be playing "Dr Richards" who turns into a crow as a result of a wrong experiment.

2.0 is a sequel to 2010 Superhit film Enthiran (Robo in Telugu & Robot in Hindi) in which Rajnikanth had a dual role as a scientist and his robot. The upcoming film 2.0 is said to be the costliest project of Indian Cinema till date, clinching the rank from Baahubali. 2.0 is said to be made at a budget of whopping Rs 350Cr.

The first look launch was one of it's kind as the looks of Rajinikanth & Akshay Kumar were presented in 3D format by the Production house (Lyca Productions) at the mega launch.

The event at YRF was hosted by Baahubali producer, Karan Johar and the surprise factor of the event, was when superstar Salman Khan walked in at the event dressed in casuals to greet Rajinikanth & Akshay Kumar. There were rumours that Kamal Haasan, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan were invited to be the guests at the event, but no one would have expected Salman Khan to drop in at the venue & meet the South legend.

Salman said "I wasn't invited to the event, I had just heard that Rajinikanth Sir was coming, so I turned up on my own. I wasn't invited. I got to know that the launch was happening so I have come. I just wanted to meet him. I've alot of respect for him. He is the most amazing man."

Talking about the first look & his dear friend Akshay, Salman said, "I loved the first look. Akshay is phenomenal. He is the only actor in the industry among all of us, who has shown growth and only he could have done this role.” In his trademark humour, Salman then asked Karan Johar why doesn't he make films like this leaving Karan speechless. Salman said, "Shankar makes the most fabulous things. Why don't you do it? If I was given a chance then I would have done that character,” Salman told Karan Johar jokingly.

When asked about when would he share screen space with Salman, after having worked with SRK & now with Akshay, Rajinikanth said,"I'm ready to start a film with Salman even tomorrow."

Shankar had just announced that there is going to be a third installment as well.

The South Legend was so impressed by Akshay that he said, "He is the real hero of our film, if I was given a choice I would have done his role.” Talking about the director of the film, Rajnikanth said, "Working with Shankar is a difficult task. He is a perfectionist. That is why he is one of the biggest directors. This film as 3D is a different experience."

Talking about his experience with Rajnikanth, Akshay said, "Rajinikanth is not a superstar, he's the entire galaxy. Few years back his film Baba didn't worked at box office and he called all his distributors and returned their money. This is the sign of the biggest superstar."

2.0 is scheduled to release on Diwali next year. 2.0 will be a “Hollywood-level” project with VFX, music, cast & direction being top notch. Well after having a look at the first look and posters, we just can't wait to see the South Superstar Rajnikanth with Akshay Kumar on screen.
