Shah Rukh Khan says he has never played such a role in the 25 years of his career and he is glad that director Gauri Shinde decided to cast him in "Dear Zindagi".

King Khan hopes his stardom doesn't come in the way of the success of his upcoming film Dear Zindagi. In the film Alia Bhatt plays the lead role and Shah Rukh Khan has an extended cameo.

Shah Rukh Khan added, I've always tried to do different things in my career and "Dear Zindagi" is one step in that direction.
“Because the film has been done so wonderfully by both Gauri (Director of Dear Zindagi) and Alia. I hope I don’t let them down. I hope me and my stardom don’t let it down. I'm having a role which is very important and so are all the others characters”.

“I haven’t been able to assure that a star vehicle of mine will make people come and watch it. I do hear voices and noises about my decision to do films. I hear that I should be part of other stuff and not just star vehicles. I have done all that in the 25 years of my career but I want to do more and this is one step in that direction,” Shah Rukh Khan said.

According to Shah Rukh Khan, he has never played such a character in his over 25-year career and he is glad that director Gauri Shinde decided to cast him in the film.
“My role is like a supporting actor in the film, more like an extended cameo. I am very glad to be in Gauri Shinde's film. I have never played such a character in my entire career. In "Dear Zindagi" many questions about life have been asked which we normally don’t face the ups and downs of life.”

Gauri Shinde, who previously directed much acclaimed film "English Vinglish", starring Sridevi in lead roles, said she only imagined Shah Rukh Khan in the role of Dr. Jahangir Khan and could not have cast anyone else.

Gauri added,“It had to be him. I haven’t thought of anybody else. While writing I pictured him,”.

This might break many hearts, Raees Trailer will not release with Dear Zindagi but will be out in December !

Talking about her character in the film, Alia said, "My character in this film is the most relatable character I have ever played.

“I relate to Kaira more than any character I have related to. I think a lot of young people will relate to it in one or some other way. She has a lot of insecurities that she has to go through.
