Shah Rukh Khan has denied the reports claiming that his upcoming Action Crime Thriller film "Raees" is based on underworld figure Abdul Latif's life, saying that "Raees is a pure work of fiction, it is not based on any person living or dead."
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, along with the makers of the film, including director Rahul Dholakia, producer Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani has denied the rumours that their upcoming film is based on the life of underworld figure Abdul Latif, who structured his empire around illicit liquor.
The makers said, "In view of certain reports, which claim that our upcoming film "Raees" is based on Abdul Latif's life and rumours to that effect are being circulated, we take this opportunity to clarify that the story of our film isn't based on any person living or dead, it's a pure work of fiction.
All those who are making such claims and rumours, will soon realise themselves once they see the film. Raees is an imaginated Action Crime Thriller, set against the backdrop of Gujarat. The trailer of Shah Rukh Khan's "Raees" was released on 7th December, and got thumbs up from viewers, critics and media, the team hopes the film will be loved much more.
The team said, "We are overwhelmed with the love and positive response that everyone showered the trailer of Raees, we certainly hope that the pouring of love shall continue upon the release of our film as well."
Raees is produced under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment. Shah Rukh Khan is playing as Raees Alam, a Gujarati Bootlegger, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui is playing a cop, who is high on heels to get Raees arrested. Mahira Khan plays Shah Rukh Khan's love interest, Mohsina.
The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub Khan and Mahira Khan. Shah Rukh Khan's film is all set to release on 25th January,2017 and will clash with Hritik Roshan and Yami Gautam starrer"Kaabil".
