Meri Pyaari Bindu Movie Review : Parineeti Chopra looks realistic, but Ayushmann Khurrana is the show stealer!

Poster of Meri Pyaari Bindu.

CAST - Parineeti Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, Aparajita Auddy, Abish Mathew.

DIRECTOR - Akshay Roy

DURATION - 2hrs

GENRE - Romance/Drama

RATING - 3.5/5

PLOT - Abhimanyu Roy (Ayushmann Khurrana) is a corporate type turned pulp novelist. Bindu Shankar Narayanan (Parineeti Chopra) is an aspiring singer. In the film, they come and go, repeat and leave us wanting more.

REVIEW - Director Akshay Roy brings the 80's Kolkata and today's Mumbai through the film. Abhimanyu and Bindu are childhoods neighbours, who strike a charming but unbalanced friendship. Abhimanyu starts concentrating on Bindu, but she's only concerned about her singing aspirations. The story is narrated through a set of songs from the late 70s and 80s. The story lacks passion and depth required for a love story to keep the audience's interest in the film. While, Ayushmann Khurrana is quite convincing as the hopeless lover, who is a best seller writer. His one note character manages to be charming. Parineeti Chopra is bubbly and cute, her character has quirks, flaws, ups and downs and she's more realistic. The Marine Drive scene when Abhimanyu and Bindu discuss their equation, looks realistic. The makers have used time travel to pull forward the narrative. From the music point of view, Parineeti Chopra's "Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin" and "Haareya" by Arijit Singh is still my favourite from the film. The film has a few full moments, but somehow Ayushmann Khurrana and his charm manages to put up a smile on your face. His character grows on you, and so does his feelings. He plays a Bengali but some scenes will take you back to his Vicky Donor days. When Ayushmann Khurrana takes over as the narrator, the depth in his voice and the emotions in his words will grab your interest.

FINAL WORDS - It's a film, you've to see more with your heart than your mind!
