A couple of weeks after the parent firm announced a fund raise of $431 million (US), food ordering startup Foodpanda, India's Online Marketplace for food delivery on Tuesday said it had signed up Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan as it's brand ambassador.

With an aim to target all sections of the country, the brand would be engaging with SRK for a holistic campaign across online and offline mediums including, T.V. , print, radio and outdoor and the brand association would be commenced by a new Television Commercial (TVC) to be launched later this week. The upcoming TVCs will have Superstar Shah Rukh Khan talking about the company and it's various offerings, including early morning and late night delivery, Express Guarantee and it's best offers. While the TVC is expected to go live this week, the company has released a teaser where SRK is seen arguing with the director that is asking too much of him. A snippet of the advertisement shows the Raees actor saying, "I became a coach, a robot and even my own fan in movies, but this, this is too much!"

Saurabh Kochhar, chief executive officer, Foodpanda India says, "Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest star the whole nation knows and his universal appeal cuts all age, gender and consumer demographics. We feel that this brand association between Foodpanda and Shah Rukh will provide further impetus to our determination to change the way India eats. We'll continue to keep a strong focus on strengthening food ordering and delivery experience."

Currently Foodpanda works with over 12,000 restaurants across 100 cities in India and runs both marketplace and the delivery business for it's partner restaurants across the country.

The headquarters Foodpanda are located in Berlin and the company was incubated by Rocket Internet. It was bought by rival Delivery Hero which was too backed by Rocket Internet in December.

Largely Foodpanda competes with Zomato which last raised $60 million (US) and Bengaluru-based Swiggy in the India market.
