CONFIRMED! Not Deepika Padukone but it's Varun Dhawan on board for Badlapur 2

Varun Dhawan stunned everyone in the dark and gritty Badlapur which was directed by Sriram Raghavan. The film won him a lot of critical acclaim and huge applaud from the audience.

A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that the sequel of Badlapur is in making and now there's a good news for Varun Dhawan fans that Varun is onboard the project.

A source claims, “Varun has signed two big films, one is Shoojit Sircar’s next, the other one is the sequel to Badlapur which will be directed by Sriram Raghavan again and he is also in talks with Sriram for another film. Though Varun enjoys his 100% hit ratio and commercial successes like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, he loves to tread the dark, edgy genre and is excited to be part of Badlapur 2 again. The sequel, though based in Badlapur will be a completely different story than it's prequel. And while the makers may cast Nawazuddin Siddiqui again but the lead actresses Yami Gautam and Huma Qureshi won’t be part of the film. The shooting of both the upcoming films of Varun will start this year.”

There were rumours about Deepika Padukone playing the anti-heroine in Badlapur 2, but now producer Dinesh Vijan has denied all these claims. He mentioned, "There is no female lead at all in the movie." On this, the source stated, "A sequel to Badlapur, with a female protagonist and a completely new cast, was being planned. The producer Dinesh Vijan had spoken to Deepika about it, and she had loved the idea. But those talks fell through as the script didn’t shape up to expectations. Sriram and Varun have shared a great equation and both are keen to work together again. Sriram starts his film with Ayushmann Khurrana on June 14 and will start Badlapur 2 after that — early next year. Ironically, Varun’s other film is with Shoojit Sircar, the maker who launched Ayushmann."

As Dinesh revealed to a source at the success party of Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar starrer Hindi Medium he said, “As soon as Raabta gets released, we will get into the casting of Badlapur 2 and for now I can assure that it won't have any female lead. As soon as casting of the film gets complete, we will be reveal the details about it.”
