Salman Khan starrer Tubelight was released this friday. Salman Khan and Kabir Khan are coming after their massive hit of 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, expectations were really high from Tubelight, but unfortunately the film didn't live upto expectations and received mixed reviews from audience as well as critics. The film released on 4350 screens across the country and collected Rs. 21.15cr on it's very first day at the domestic box office and proved out to be Salman Khan's lowest opener in recent times as compared to 'Sultan', 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. The film managed to become the second highest opener of 2017, the first highest opening day of 2017 stil belongs to Baahubali, the film collected Rs. 40cr on it's opening day, whereas Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' stands at third position with Rs. 20.43cr on it's first day. But it will be very unfair to compare Shah Rukh Khan's Raees with Salman Khan's Tubelight as there's a big difference in screens given to Tubelight and Raees, also Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' clashed with Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam starrer 'Kaabil', but still managed to open at a good occupancy all over the country and brought good numbers at the box office.

Film critic and biz analyst Taran Adarsh wrote,
That means with 42.32cr in two days, the film can easily enter the 100cr club by Sunday + Monday (Partial Holiday). With a good buzz, Pre Eid and 4350 screens across India, we expected Salman Khan's film to open up at a good occupancy but now, it looks pretty tough for Salman Khan starrer Tubelight to enter the 300cr club.
