TUBELIGHT First Day Collection Update : Salman Khan's film collects 21.15cr on it's first day

Salman Khan starrer highly awaited film Tubelight was released in cinemas yesterday. The film garnered mixed reviews from critics and audience. Tubelight released on 4350 screens in India with an occupancy of 45-50% during the morning shows at the domestic box office. There were few single screen theatres which opened to housefull shows too. But unfortunately, it hasn't opened as good as we expected it to. In fact, Tubelight became lowest opener for Salman Khan as compared to his last three releases 'Sultan'. 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. This much occupancy is even lower than Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Raees' which clashed with Hrithik Roshan's 'Kaabil'. But Tubelight became the second highest opener of 2017 after S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali 2, and collected slightly higher than Shah Rukh Khan's Raees. Baahubali 2 managed to collect 40.75cr on it's first day, while Raees collected 20.43cr on it's opening day. It will be a crime to compare the collection report of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees with Salman Khan's Tubelight as Raees had lesser screens than Tubelight. In fact, Tubelight failed to beat the first day record of Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger', 'Kick', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Sultan' which released on Eid. The first day collection report of Tubelight is even lower than Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chennai Express' which released on Eid 2013. With a good buzz, Pre Eid and 4350 screens across India, we expected Salman Khan's film to start with an occupancy of around more than 60-70 percent. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. But the film will be enjoying an extended weekend since Monday will be a partial holiday. So Sat+Sun+Mon can manage to make a good collection report for the film at the box office.
