Spider-Man Homecoming Movie Review : When Iron Man meets Spider Man, entertainment guaranteed
Cast - Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Laura Harrier, Jacob Batalon, Stan Lee
Director - John Watts
Genre - Science Fiction
Duration - 2h 13mins
Rating - 4/5
Plot - Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) story is concerned after he rubbs shoulders with the mighty Avengers in Captain America : Civil War but Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) aka Vulture's story goes back to the first installment of Avengers. Spider Man Homecoming follows the life of Peter Parker, how changes occur in his life after his stint with the Avengers. While Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) advises him to go back to his school and assures him he'll be called during the moment of his glory when he can assist the Avengers. He further advises him to not do what Tony does and definitely not do what Tony never does. Tony wants him to be the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man but Peter wants to prove himself and is just looking for a chance. And that one chance arrives when The Vulture makes an appearance! What happens next forms the rest of the film.
Review - Patience is certainly not Peter's virtue. He's desperate to earn a sensational 'job offer' from Tony Stark, in the mean time the web slinger stops robberies and crimes. He soon runs after 'Vulture' (Michael Keaton), the man who poses real threat to lives. Director Jon Watts starts his film with a clean state. The film takes off from where the Avengers ended. Spider Man Homecoming is completely different from it's first two versions (Spider Man and The Amazing Spider Man). We see Peter is completely focused on being an A-listed (Avengers like) superhero. There's no Uncle Ben or Peter's parents in this one. But yes, it has Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), an Italian hottie. Like every Marvel movie, this one also has a lot of humour as well as fantastic visuals and thrilling stunt scenes, there's not even a single dull moment in the film. Tom Holland is goofy, childish, endearing and adorable. He delivers an excellent performance, his whole scene with Michael Keaton and Adrian Toomes in the car, speaks a lot about his acting talent. Michael Keaton is one of the major reasons the film turns out to be what it is.When he turns into The Vulture, he is a show stealer, his voice, demeanor, mannerism, aura works in favour of the film. Stan Lee has a single scene space, while Jacob Batalon as Ned, Peter's best friend delivers an endearing performance, he plays a perfect sidekick and often raises laughter quotient in the film. Robert Downey Jr. aka Iron Man, he's one of the major reasons to watch the film, he's truly invincible. He is charismatic, charming, enigmatic as well as majestic. This one is the most grounded version of Spider Man so far, he's a trainee here. He's far away from learning the webs in a way. The major disappointment occurs when you wouldn't show that money shot moment from the trailer where Iron Man and Spider-Man are shown slinging/flying around the city.
Final Words - This is the Spider Man we have been waiting for years. It's Marvel Cinematic Universe, you'll watch it at any cost. When Iron Man meets Spider Man, it's entertainment guaranteed. Somehow, few audiences might not like the climax scene, but overall it's a complete non-stop entertainment filled with humour. Go for it!
